The Pneumatic Plus SAW Series Filter-Regulators, commonly known as "Piggybacks," combine the functions of both filter and regulator. These compact units are most effective when space is constrained. The FILTER component automatically filters out dirt, foreign particles, and separates moisture from the air flow, with no moving parts and no adjustments necessary. To maintain filtering efficiency, the filter element should be washed at intervals with methylene chloride or a similar cleansing fluid. The accumulated sludge and moisture should be drained off, and the sediment should not be allowed to fill above the lower baffle.

To clean the filter element, the system must be depressurized, and the metal guard and polycarbonate bowl must be removed by pulling down the lock and twisting them off. The element can then be unscrewed from the head and thoroughly dried before reassembly. The filter bowl(s) should be cleaned only with soapy water, and the O-ring should be inspected and replaced if damaged or distorted. Reassembly should be done with care to avoid stripping the threads on the bowl. After tightening the metal bowl with a sight, it can be rotated up to 180 degrees for proper viewing.

The REGULATOR component requires the following steps before supplying air: Turn the adjusting knob counter-clockwise until the compression is released from the control spring. Then, turn on the air supply and adjust the knob clockwise to set the desired secondary pressure. Note that the adjustment knob must be pulled away from the body of the regulator to operate, and pushing it back towards the body will lock the control knob.

It is essential to use care when screwing fittings into the body of the units to avoid closing the internal ports. Normally, finger-tight plus one turn will seal the fittings.
